Dr. Jenny Dwyer

Dr Jenny Dwyer

Director

Jenny is a child and family therapist and Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who has specialised in systemic responses to trauma. She has developed trauma-informed practice frameworks for government and organisations in youth justice, family violence and child protection, and supervision and leadership guides. She has also conducted independent inquiries relating to child deaths and has an interest in how we promote critical decision-making in clinical practice.

Jenny founded EMDR Academy Australia as a way of building capacity, supporting practitioners and expanding the reach of EMDR. This allows her to work at every level of the system in each role she loves – maintaining a clinical practice, teaching, mentoring, researching and building partnerships for change.

As someone who has benefitted from the generosity and guidance of mentors in her long career, Jenny is keen to give back and help develop the future leaders in our field. She became a Child EMDR Specialist under the guidance of Ana Gomez and has facilitated Ana’s training with her. She has trained in innovative approaches to EMDR, including Early Intervention models (R-TEP and G-TEP) with Elan Shapiro, and developed her own integrated model of Animal Assisted EMDR.

Administrative Team

Our helpful Admin Team oversees all our communications and is the backbone of our training, consultation, and clinical programs. We support flexible working arrangements, so our staff are part-time and work remotely. They collaborate as a team to support our programs, partners, colleagues and clients. They may not be immediately available to answer queries, but get back to you as soon as possible.
