Payment must be made at the time of registration. Your registration cannot be confirmed unless payment has been processed. A confirmation/tax invoice will be issued upon registration to your nominated email address. That email address will be used for all correspondence and materials.
2. Cancellation and Refund Policy
2.1. Training and workshops
2.1.2. Places in trainings are limited. A refund of the fee paid, less $100.00, will be issued for cancellations received in writing or email more than 28 days before the workshop start date.
No refunds will be issued after this date.
2.1.3. For cancellations less than 28 days and more than 10 days prior to the workshop, substitutions are welcome. However, the substitute person must meet all participation criteria and agree to complete all pre-workshop materials in the time available. Full details of the substitute person must be provided at the time of transfer. If applicable, all materials previously received must be transferred to the replacement person.
2.1.4. Transfers less than 10 days prior to EMDR Basic Training are generally not permitted, because it is difficult to complete pre-workshop material in less than 10 days. In exceptional circumstances EMDR Academy has discretion to agree to a transfer if the participant is able to complete all materials adequately.
2.1.5. Transfers relating to other workshops are permitted up to 3 working days prior to the workshop
2.1.6. Refunds cannot be made for non-attendance, for whatever reason.
2.2.1. Demand for consultation is high and places limited. Payment is required at the time of booking.
2.2.2. Cancellations: Must be received in writing or email up to 7 days prior to the event. A full refund will be given, less a cancellation fee of $30. This is necessary to cover bank and administrative charges we face in issuing refunds. Cancellations less than 7 days will only be refunded if the vacancy is filled by another participant.
2.2.3. Change of date: Participants may transfer to another date up to 7 days prior to a consultation, for no charge. Transfers within 7 days are not permitted; however participants are able to swap places with other consultees, so long as EMDR Academy is notified by email 48 hours before the consultation session. No changes are allowed within 48 hours.
2.2.4. Please note that frequent and short-notice changes are disruptive to the consultation process and to peers. EMDR Academy reserves the right to withdraw the offer of consultation at any time.
2.2.5. Refunds cannot be made for non-attendance, for whatever reason.
2.2.6. Consultation agreements in addition to this general agreement, may apply for specific consultation packages, including Consultation for Accreditation.
3. COVID Cancellation Policy
3.1. Unpredictable cancellations and lockdowns are a risk during the COVID pandemic, and are beyond the control of EMDR Academy and participants. To ensure we can continue to provide training that is reliable and safe, it may be necessary to change delivery terms at short notice.
3.2. For all workshops EMDR Academy reserves the right to transfer face-to-face training to an on-line format if required by government health directives that disrupt attendance. This is the preferred way of managing disruptions for all training and workshops.
3.3.Participants who are unable to attend face-to-face workshops due to government health directives not in place at the time of registration, may transfer their attendance to a future date if an online alternative is not available.
3.4. No one should attend a training venue if you are showing symptoms of COVID or are subject to isolation orders. Participants who are unable to attend on the day due to sudden onset of COVID symptoms, may transfer to another date, after providing EMDR Academy with evidence of COVID testing on that date. Late cancelations without evidence of COVID testing will be treated as non-attendance.
3.5. If EMDR Academy needs to cancel the event at short notice due to COVID-related impacts, participants will be offered a full refund, or the option of transferring to another workshop. EMDR Academy cannot reimburse any expenses incurred.
4. Participation in EMDR Clinical Training
The training materials are subject to copyright. Participants must not:
- Record the training in any form – including audio, video or photograph
- Share the training materials without the written permission of EMDR Academy
- Distribute any of the materials, except to clients where permitted
4.2. Management of trauma-related material
4.2.1. Clinical training (including but not limited to EMDR Basic Training Level 1&2, and R-TEP & G-TEP training) covers trauma-related case material that may be disturbing to those with unresolved personal issues.
4.2.2. Participation in the training involves practicing EMDR procedures in small groups under the supervision of the trainer or a qualified facilitator. Participants must be prepared to give and receive EMDR relating to real-life experiences as part of the training program. This ensures trainees appreciate the subjective experience of receiving EMDR, and provides valid training experiences for other participants.
4.3.3. These practice sessions are for training purposes only and not for personal therapy. Therefore material brought to the training must be appropriate to a training context and not something you are/should be in therapy for.
4.4.4. Participants need to be aware that it is not unusual for a disturbing memory to be linked to other experiences that might surface during or after the practice sessions.
4.5.5. By registering for training, participants affirm that they have appropriate self-soothing strategies and are able to utilise these to manage any affect/arousal that occurs during and following EMDR training, practice and consultation sessions. While EMDR Academy trainers and facilitators will provide sensitive support to participants during training, it is the responsibility of all participants to seek further external therapeutic support if needed. 4.6.6. For those who are presently engaged in personal therapy and/or psychiatric treatment, it is a requirement that you inform your treating professional about all aspects of the training including the experiential component; and secure their agreement to participate before beginning the training.
4.7.7. Participants with medical or mental health conditions that may affect participation should discuss their situation with the trainer prior to registering for training.
4.8.8. To ensure safe learning of all participants, anyone who has been currently or previously diagnosed with a dissociative disorder, acute or chronic PTSD, substance use disorder, or personality disorder must discuss this with EMDR Academy prior to registration. Failure to do so could place you at risk and negatively impact on other participants. These discussions will be treated in confidence and are to ensure safety.
4.2.9. Failure to disclose relevant mental health concerns that can effect participation could result in dismissal from the training without refund.
4.3.1. Participants must respect confidentiality relating to all practicum experiences and consultation sessions. Trainers and facilitators supervise practice sessions and will observe discussion of personal material. They may intervene at any time at their discretion.
4.3.2. During live online practice sessions, participants must ensure that they are in a private space, where no one can see or hear other participants. Use of headphones is advised to assist confidentiality
5. Attendance Policy
5.1. Participants must complete all online modules and activities as required prior to live sessions. Failure to complete the materials will make it impossible to adequately participate in live practice sessions.
5.2. Active participation and attendance is required for in all live sessions. Missed practicum sessions cannot be made up. Those arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time or leaving more than 15 minutes before closing will not receive CPD credits.
6. Technical and other requirements for live online Clinical training
6.1. During clinical training and consultation, participants need to be able to see and hear each other clearly at all times. Participants therefore need access to reliable internet that allows use of camera and microphone.
6.2. To ensure clinical procedures can be followed, participants’ face and upper body must be clearly visible at all times. This requires a well-lit room with no backlight. It is advisable to check the camera view to minimise background distractions and ensure clear visibility. Where possible headphones should be used to limit distractions and ensure confidentiality.
6.3. We use Zoom for our webinars. Participants must have downloaded and be familiar with Zoom prior to commencement. Information is available at:

6.4. During clinical training participants must have back-up incase of a failure of internet or power. It is required that you have a mobile phone charged and accessible. The Zoom app should be downloaded on the phone in case this is needed at any time.
The organisers reserve the right to cancel or reschedule any workshop for which sufficient registrations are not received up to 2 weeks prior to the workshop starting date. Existing registrants will be sent a full refund. Registrations may be transferred to a future workshop if preferred. EMDR Academy cannot reimburse any expenses incurred. It is recommended you purchase travel insurance.
