Learn two early intervention protocols that can transform your practice

EMDR Early Intervention is the new frontier in innovation and this is our most comprehensive workshop. The Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) and Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) equip you to provide a stepped level of care, moving seamlessly between individual and group interventions following recent traumatic episodes. The concept of the ‘trauma episode’, described as the missing link between Francine Shapiro’s Recent Events and the Standard Protocol, can transform your practice. It can be used with recent trauma as well as an ongoing episode.

“We may not be able to prevent trauma, but we can prevent the accumulation of trauma memories…” Elan Shapiro

When we intervene early and in a targeted way, we can prevent suffering and promote healing quickly… We can help to process trauma memories before they become stuck, rather than re-process them later.

Develop your own individual and group treatment program

As the demand for services outstrips our capacity to respond, these protocols are being used around the world in new and creative ways. Graduates of our training have developed integrated programs using individual and group interventions.

  • Process recent experiences without having to process previous trauma.
  • Provide brief, targeted and effective EMDR focussing on the recent episode, rather than all of life events.
  • R&G-TEP now form part of a suite of ‘TEP’ interventions that can be used flexibly and in many circumstances.
  • This comprehensive training allows you to provide a stepped level of care, moving between individual and group interventions
  • Has been used in a range of settings and communities, including those affected by climate disasters, terrorism, accidents, physical and sexual violence, following workplace trauma, and in in-patient and out-patient settings.

What does the workshop include?

  • Important considerations in early intervention
  • Strategies for assessing suitability for R-TEP and G-TEP
  • The 4 Elements stress management technique
  • How to identify targets for processing in situations of ongoing traumatic stress
  • How to process recent experiences without first processing historical trauma
  • Recent innovations and adaptations of group EMDR
  • Experience giving and receiving R-TEP and G-TEP
  • How to provide online and in-person
  • Comprehensive manual – Worksheets, scripts, and additional resources
