Join Ana Gomez in the final of 3 masterclasses online especially for us!
Whether you have attended her training with us previously, read her books, or stayed up all night to join her training live in the USA, you know the value of Ana Gomez’s workshops. In our ongoing partnership with Ana, we are delighted that she is joining us at a time that suits our region… you can join from the comfort of home, with no overnight sessions required!
This workshop is the final in a series of three. It can can be taken alone, or as a bundle and save package. Each workshop in the series focusses on one component of Ana’s current and ever-developing approach, as she continues to lead us in transforming how we practice EMDR.
What is the workshop about?
This final workshop is a culmination of years of Ana’s work, and extends many concepts discussed in this series. However, you don’t need to have attended the earlier workshops to fully benefit.
EMDR therapy requires more than prescriptive techniques. This workshop emphasises clinical discernment and intentional decision-making, focussing on how attachment and defenses impact reprocessing styles in EMDR.
Drawing from the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), Ana examines how attachment-based states of mind give rise to distinct reprocessing tendencies during EMDR therapy. Insecure states of mind are often associated with defensive, survival-driven reprocessing that limits affective range and restricts integration. Whereas secure-autonomous states support flexible, coherent processing – even when memories are emotionally painful.
Participants will learn to recognise defensive and constrained precessing tendencies (such as avoidance, minimising, emotional flooding, and fixed sensory loops), as expressions of self-protection in complex trauma. Understanding these tendencies allows therapists to select interweaves specifically matched to how the client is processing rather than simply the content of what is being processed – including those that promote safety, increase flexibility, restore relational engagement, or gently interrupt rigid survival-based processing.
Who should attend?
Of all the workshops in this series, this one is most suitable for anyone practicing EMDR. Understanding how a client’s attachment style is reflected in reprocessing tendencies is a fundamental shift in conceptualisation. Combined with Ana’s systems interweave model this creates new possibilities for reprocessing. Whether you are an adult or child therapist, this workshop will open up new ways of helping your clients with complex trauma to move toward more integrative and adaptive reprocessing.
