Join Ana Gomez in the first of 3 masterclasses online especially for us!
Ana Gomez needs little introduction. If you have attended her training with us previously, read her books, or stayed up late at night to join her live in the USA, you know that her workshops are solid gold. She’s known for her engaging, creative and practical workshops, that assist practitioners to combine EMDR with other modalities. We are again delighted to partner with Ana to bring her to our region in a friendly time-zone.
This online workshop is part one in a series of three; and can be taken alone or as a bundle and save package. Each focusses on one component of Ana’s current and ever-developing approach, as she continues to lead us in transforming how we practice EMDR.
What is the workshop about?
In this training, Ana explores the titration continuum, as she guides us to understand when and how to adjust intensity and proximity of traumatic material, based on the client’s moment-to-moment capacity.
EMDR clinicians draw on a wide range of tools to support co-regulation, modulate arousal, restore presence and facilitate the integration of traumatic memories. However, in developmental and complex trauma, healing requires more than following protocol. It requires a therapist who is deeply attuned to the client’s nervous system, the inter-subjective field, and the layers of meaning beneath the words.
Across development, trauma is often stored in implicit systems – as non-verbal, sensory, emotional and somatic layers of experience that cannot be reached through insight or language alone. Many clients also carry trauma-related phobias, making even brief contact with traumatic memory feel overwhelming or unsafe. In these situations titration is not just helpful – it is essential.
Participants will learn when explicit processing is possible – working directly with memory, cognition and narrative – and when implicit pathways are needed – including image, metaphor, body, sensation, symbolic expression or play.
The central focus will be micro-dosing EMDR: offering brief, carefully calibrated doses of traumatic material while maintaining dual awareness and nervous system regulation. This honours the limits of tolerance, particularly for clients who have experienced early overwhelm or carry fragmented memory systems. Ana will explore the many access routes on the titration continuum, including standard reprocessing, pendulation, oscillation, symbolic processing and micro-dosing – while guiding the therapist to remain flexible, present and developmentally attuned.
Who should attend?
If you are an EMDR therapist and work with complex trauma, this workshop is for you. While specifically designed for those working with children and adolescents, her approach offers insights and strategies that are equally useful for therapists working with adults who carry the wounds of childhood trauma.
Prerequisite
Participants must have completed approved Level 1 EMDR training.
