What is the purpose of EMDR Consultation?

With consultation we help you implement EMDR into your practice with your own clients. This supports you in your professional development, builds confidence and competence to practice EMDR, and assists you in meeting accreditation requirements. It also helps ensure EMDR clinicians are well equipped to meet the needs of our wider community.

You are able to practice EMDR as soon as you complete Level One training. However, to become a full member of EMDRAA, you need to complete a total of 10 hours consultation over the course of Level 1 and Level 2 training. You can find out more about EMDRAA requirements and accreditation here.

Yes. We provide consultation based on your level of experience of EMDR training and practice. It is important you book into the group that best meets your needs:

  • Beginning – for those who have recently completed Level 1 training; or trained some time ago but have not had opportunity to practice.
  • Consolidating – for those who have recently completed Level 2 or are confident in using all phases of EMDR with a range of clients.
  • Advanced – Consultation to become an Accredited Practitioner. For those who have completed training and consultation requirements and now want to become an accredited practitioner. Additional individual sessions are booked separately if required.

We’re currently offering online group consultation sessions for a maximum of 3 people per group. Monthly sessions are generally held on Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons with additional times depending on demand. All sessions are delivered via Zoom.

Each session goes for 1.5 hours, this allows plenty of time to ask questions and participate in discussions with other mental health clinicians in an enabling and positive learning environment.

To book into a session, please refer to the calendar below and select from the available times and dates. Please make sure you check the level of consultation – Beginning, Consolidating or Advanced. You’ll be asked to confirm your booking by entering your payment details at the checkout page. Once entered, you’ll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link and other relevant information to ensure you get the most out of your upcoming session!
